Hi one and all,
I attended East Dean and Friston Firework event on Friday and was wondering what your thoughts were on this matter ..
In the village green 2 hours before the fireworks they are selling torches to the general public for £ 2 a piece, they are the variety that are like giant candles with a flimsy bit of card protecting your hand from the wax, hardly a marshall in sight.
How on earth do they get this allowed ??
Then they have an unoffcial torchlit procession from the green to the firesite and its rather rugged terrain round the back of houses and down the field. two marshalls i saw one saying please dont fall in the ditch and another telling people not to trip over the pot hole on the ned of the path ? omg
Be interesting to see their insurance policy and what they pay. If anyone were to get burnt or a member of the public set alight a car or house or even somebody else there would surely be an issue as they have paid money for these torches, apart from the question of other parties liability!! _________________ Always Plotting

They do a similar thing in Guildford . . Sticks with tow or sacking encased in a baked bean can ! . . They do have a massive bonfire though _________________ Remember Remember The Fifth Of November . . V
Public with torches = insurance nightmare. Hence why we stopped selling them to the general public a good 15 years ago at Lindfield. Plus it was a bloody nightmare controling the public. Best thing we ever did in my opinion was stopping the selling of torches. _________________ "Bonfire boys do it with a bang!"

V in guildford it is the same they use the giant candles not the baked bean cans on a stick as far as i can remember that was clapham and patching style torch (towards the end) _________________ For you may tell them all,
