Eastbourne parking machines[Disclaimer - this thread is meant in jest. Do not take it seriously. Nobody has been banned from reading this thread and no mention of stripes or other societies are included. If you do not like this thread then do not read it. There is no connection with this thread and the blowing up of parking machines in Lewes which must be condoned by all and I'm sure any bonfire boy or girl would not succum to wasting bangers on a poor innocent parking machine in any event]
Eastborne Pay & Display machines will be capable to text for help if they are being vandalised.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/sussex/7028012.stm
I wonder who will receive the text and what they will do when it says 'help - being vandalised - banger inserted in coin return* - please come quick - person in striped jumped walking away**' and will a banger on a 5 second fuse allow time for the text to be sent?
Just curious of course
* = or wherever the explosives are placed
** = no colours mentioned on purpose

Parking Machines....
I'd like to buy the person/persons involed in blowing them up a round of drinks.

B*****ds are going to have CCTV coverage on them as well, which necessitates some ingenuity in disabling them.
If our event hadn't been scuppered twice over an effigy of Councilor Matthew Locke with a strategically inserted meter would've been my suggestion for a tableaux!
PS Locke's the twat who voted to close down our maternity unit and shift all services to Hastings as well as being the author of the massively unpopular Seaside bus lane on top of his parking scheme.
If they weren't so clueless I'd love to see Eastbourne Council become a unitary authority and keep ESCC out of our town!

Plenty of Halloween masks in the shops at the moment. Should help to disguise yourself

Given the number of chavs in the town, announcing that these machines have their own mobile phones is an open invite to the ASBO generation.

The latest news is that after a last minute legal challenge by Eastbourne Council the proposed parking scheme has been put on hold. Apparently the regulations ESCC thought gave them the power to bring in 'pay to park' apply only to London. Now we have to wait on Ruth Kelly....

I don't think so. The problems ESCC ran into apropos 'Pay to park' in Eastbourne was that they miscontrued the scope of their powers under revised legislation (Which came in after metering in Lewes) and phrased their application for parking controls incorrectly.
Under a compromise with Eastbourne Borough Council, NCP wardens are empowered to issue enforcement notices but the meters are switched off until the Home Secretary's had a chance to look at it and if the decision goes for ESCC it can still be challenged through the courts.
