Fletching Bonfire 2009Hello all, back again for another season and looking forward to it.
There are roumers arife that Bonfire Societies are going to boycot Fletchings celebrations this year over this silly idea of issuing other Society members with passes yet not the public and closing the village entirely to everybody at 6.30pm!!
Could anybody fill me in to the reasoning behind this as everybody i have spoken to seems as bemused as me??

Hello mate, Hailsham will be attending Fletching, no boycotts here, i'm not gonna start a mud fight by mentioning societies but those i've spoken to feel that there are too many restrictions being imposed by the Police and feel that the Police are pulling too many strings at Fletching and the society has lost control over their own event, and subsequently they feel the event is going to have a restrictive feel about it. Please note these are NOT my comments please don't shoot the messanger!! As i say we are attending I am only passing on what I have heard in order that you have an answer to your question.

From what I hear people are just confused about what is happening at Fletching, I know I am, but we are certianly not boycotting it, we have the problem that it clashes with Nevil so are unsure which to go to or whether to split and have members going to both. I should think Forrest and I will be at Fletching as long as we can get there early enough to park.

There is already a thread open for discussion on Fletching's celebrations, so no need to open another thread. So I'm closing this one.
