Hello people

About time I did this, I guess. Seeing as I've already posted a few times!

My name is Lee and I head up the wind section (bugles) of the Burgess Hill Marching Youth.

We're a fairly active band on the Sussex bonfire scene, though not nearly as much as we used to be. Our regular bonfire haunts are Burgess Hill and Lindfield. This year I think we're doing Littlehampton too.

We're a highly decorated National Class (that's the top class by the way) band within the Traditional Youth Marching Bands Association. We've been going since 1986 (and yes I've been in it all that time) and by 1990 were regarded as one of the best youth bands in the country. Since then winning many national and regional contests, including supreme corps of drums champions at the Royal Albert Hall. We still retain that title in fact because that contest no longer runs.

Now I've bored you with the details, I'll get on me bike.

If you need a band for your bonfire march (obviously it's a bit late for this year), give me a shout and I'll put you in touch with our Bandmaster.

Cheers!

Thanks for everything that you guys did at our Celebrations in Burgess Hill, you guys were fab! Very Happy Not only did you keep up, did not cause gaps... always a gripe with procession organisers... but you also kept playing all the way round including up the hill Very Happy

Once again thanks and have fun on the forum Wink

The gaps thing is sometimes difficult for us because we're a military style band and our drill is VERY strict. We can't just run to keep up! Fortunately this year the pace ahead of us was fairly consistent, I think because we were quite near the front.

We always play all the way... It's hard to stop us sometimes! Very Happy

We really enjoy doing Burgess Hill. It's a very important date in our calendar. Looking forward to next year already! Very Happy

As a drummer in a pipe band .. i love ur style and 2nd ur comment on keeping up .. so 4 all those non band players . . u can not change the speed of march without changing the tempo of the tune , the left foot carries the beat , u try marching to the left foot on the beat and speed up the walking pace . . or play sussex by the sea at double tempo ! . . That's just the way we are! Very Happy

We didn't stop playing tonight at Littlehampton either... My lips are now knackered and probably won't work at practice tomorrow but it's well worth it. It was a brilliant night!
