Lewes not in the National Park - good news?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/sussex/6930479.stm

Lewes will not be included within the National Park. It may sound a little trivial, but from what I understand, National Parks are a law unto themselves.

They can ban anything they like (with no legal appeal against it). I came across this in my motorcycling life when it was mooted to ban motorcycles from all national parks. When it was looked into, it turned out that it could be done (not just off road, but from any road within the boundary too).

Now Lewes is not in the National Park area, there is no chance of a ban on fireworks/tourches/processions etc.

Just my tuppence.

Maybe the person in charge of National Parks is a Brighton fan and this is their way of get revenge over the Falmer going ons Laughing

As I understand it Arundel has been left out of the National Park too as it dosen't meet the criteria.
stormy

i did hear someone say that they were annoyed because arundel didnt get in, they said that it meant their house prices wouldnt go up. so thats the ones who want to make some money out of this.
sod the ones who want cheaper houses.
i personally dont like the national trust because they seem to have a habit of making everything tidy and charging am arm and a leg so you can visit, there are already pay and sodding display metres all over the place.
i have images of them mowing the downs to make it all tidy Laughing
