Robertsbridge 21/11/09All information and gossip on Robertsbridge here please. I have a few details already on this event.
Procession will move off from Station Road at 7.15pm
Route, Procession and some common sense rules and regulations.
Arrival
Coaches must not drop off members anywhere but the railway
station car park and should arrive no later than 6.45pm. On
arrival, the coaches will be met and assisted to park by our
designated marshals. Our Chief Marshal will be waiting to hand
over identifying sashes to go with the badges we shall be handing
out. We will also need names of the marshals you will be bringing
with you, and we suggest you bring at least one marshal for every
25 members.
No vehicles will be permitted to enter the streets covered by the
Road Closure after 6pm and should find alternative places to park
until approximately 10pm when the event is over. We have a Road
Closure Order covering Station Road, George Hill, The High Street
and Northbridge Street.
Procession
All fireworks are banned in the procession, and the Police have
warned that discharging fireworks in the street is an offence and
they will arrest anyone they see doing so.
Around the fire site you may use fireworks but nothing larger than
small Chinese crackers, Spanish throw downs or rookies. If we see
anyone letting anything off bigger or setting off homemade devices
your Society will be banned from future events and your details
handed to the Police.
No child under the age of 16 will be allowed to carry a lighted
torch in the procession.
Societies costumes, props, banners etc where applicable should be
treated with a suitable fire retardant.
Display Site
Only pass holders will be allowed into the firework firing area.
There will be NO exception to this rule.
We would greatly appreciate it if you could bring along any torches left
over from your own celebrations.
We look forward to seeing you on the 21st November and hope that you
have a safe and enjoyable night.

Robertsbridge 21/11/09I'd always thought of Robertsbridge as being the "last hurrah" of the bonfire season - and one with a more relaxed attitude to bonfire traditions? How wrong I seem to be - this all sounds very oppresive So they're not going to follow the new police attitude on firework use during parades then?

Hi Guys, just heard back from the good people at Robertsbridge BS, HBS are allowed to take our "boom boxes" but if you're planning to take your boom boxes along you'd best drop them a line, there are a few rules and also some information they would like you to supply them with. It's their event so we will of course respect their wishes.

only one more to go
better make it a good one then

You have been fooled by good Ole Sussex Police. The Public Order Act 1986 states that NO Police Officer is allowed to enter the proccession at ANY time unless permission gained from the Comander-In-Chief. Letting off fireworks in the procession is perfectly Legal as long as it is dropped not thrown, and dropped by a society member, however, members of the public are not allowed fireworks on there person. I know this as i am doing my training at the moment!
Have a great night.

I hope what THJ posted is correct? Can we have some absolute clarification....
What about flares - not technically "fireworks" as such....?

We should respect the wishes of Robertsbridge BS though, if they are happy for bangers to be dropped then its up to the individual.
Il take some just in case!!

If we can get over this pig flu shit we caught from somewhere . . we b there . . cant recall being in close contact with any of the boyes in blue lately !
|
Darkstar

Strange, all the boys in blue I saw at Battel were smiling - whilst all those
I saw at Rye looked as miserable as sin. I recall Robertsbridge coppers falling into the second category.....

Robertsbridge - what's in a name?I hereby propose that "Robertsbridge" be officially renamed "Robertpeelsbridge" in honour of our ever-present and permanently smiling protectors of all that is good and righteous!
Take care out there, folks - and mind you don't get "grabbed by the peelers" - enough to bring tears to the staunchest of Bonfife Boyes!!

Hope those that are braving the elements at Robertsbridge this evening have a good time. Madame Gadois and I will not be going, so that brings our first Bonfire Season to an end
We have had a great (and generally rain free) introduction to this fine Sussex tradition and can't wait for next September.

The rules were very loosely applied, the procession was pretty loud! The playpen was easily the best of the season and resembled a war zone for about an hour
A great end to a great season for me.

We went but must of us stayed put in the Seven Stars and watched the procession slip rather moistly past the window down to the fireworks. Good Harveys consuming end to the season.

Yes, a jolly good end to the season, thanks to everyone at Robertsbridge BS. The only downside for HBS was the shameful way our "boom box" allowed herself to be used and abused by all and sundry at the firesite!!! The dirty little tart, has she no shame? - disgusting!!!!

i'm glad you all enjoyed Robertsbridge, the lady who's foot was injured is maimed for life. She wasn't 'joe public' she is a bonfire girl and has been for about 50 years. I'm hoping that those of you that were at Robertsbridge can dig deep into your conscience and help us to find out those responsible - surely us bonfire boyes and girls look after our own so how can this happen - be interested to hear your responses.......
