the hard workers

can i just say, that sometimes i think people forget about those people who may not be called members as a such. the ones who dont have a badge. Laughing
the sort of people who support it anyway, those people who go to all the funraisings, who help on the night, to those who give things to helps it run smoothly. those who seem to go down the road with a wheel barrow to collect the beefburgers (dont worry it didnt have dung in it) Laughing
Even those who dont work but give things to help it go, a simple thing like a generator to light up the field, making sandwiches and cakes for the hungry mob in the hall.
oh yes the members are fab as well, (well some of them) Twisted Evil but without one you cannot have the other. You can have members who dress up on the night and other things who make the night fun, but without the others that night wouldnt happen.
They are so many people who help out and i would just like to say thanks to them because they are quiet in all of this.
they are hidden from view or they shout at you for not getting in line, or for dropping fireworks Laughing
maybe i have got myself in a hole, as i used to be a hard working supporter, i always got dragged to putting out the bloody traffic cones with me dad, who in the old days used to help alan bradford set up the fireworks by hand but i cant now due to illness, for those who dont know me, i was an out meeting girl in the 90s when fletching wore those big dresses, that were awkward to go to the loo in. Laughing i remember it rained quite a bit for the 10 years i did it.
Before the bishops took over. in the bradfords days.
i would also like to thank the locals, who live in the village and give money and time as well, but dont go to the meetings, just dont forget them, i think again people do, that they are visiting someones home. Some of them keep away on the night as they dont like the crowds, some even are fearful of their propertys, can you blame them? who put up with the rubbish and the torches thrown in their gardens.
So when you visit these places, just respect it. dont moan at the main marshal for being annoying, (bless him) he is only doing his job, dont have a go because the people on the tractor wont hand out your torches, they are only going their job (and dont leave your beer bottle on his tractor because he will kill you) and dont moan when the girl with the hip flask is asking for money, (or going through your pockets) she is only doing her job, and they are doing it for free. Because they support their society, just as others do.
hugs xx and see you all on the night, i will be on the tractor annoying the marshal while sticking my tongue out at geoff (who i love by the way, but he still is an awkward sod) Laughing
BonfireBoy

there's alot of people out there who go about their jobs with little or no regonintion for their effots. but some prefer it that way. But we salute them all.
Pyro_Phil

Yes lets raise a glass to those workers who do it for hardly any thanks and who without bonfire wouldn't run.

I'll be biased here and give Forrest a big thanks as he does so much work behind the scenes at Lindfield and most of the society forget that without him they wouldn't havbe any fireworks as he orders them & puts the display together. Thanks bro. Wink
blackeyes

agreeing with everyone and i am sure most of us agree that we certainly dont do it for recognition or thanks..(we'd be waiting a long time Exclamation Exclamation ) what really gets me is the people turning up on the day, night or whatever, who have done sweet FA all year round then think its ok to moan about what has been done Evil or Very Mad

Agree with everything above, but especially that comment Blackeyes.
stormy

yeah but some (not all but some) of those people who do sod all in the year still do a great deal on the night so they make up for it. Laughing
bhbsbird

I agree in part with what you are saying Stormy, however some people seem to think that just turning up on the night is enough.... they forget that the Committees start planning and working towards the next years events almost straight after their celebrations are over.
Ghoti

Dont get me wrong, I have no problem with the people that only turn up on the night, if they just walk or work.

It is the ones that only turn up on the night and moan about what has (or has not) been done.
forrest

I hate the people that turn up on the night then take all the pludits at the end of the night, without giving a thought to those that have worked hard all year. Then you get the ones that tell me how i should do my firework display Exclamation Its fair to say that Dad & Phil tell them where to go. Laughing
stormy

i dont think they would you know.
Laughing
they would say if you can do any better you can take over and hand them the stuff Laughing

then possibley say, right we will be in the pub.

see now i feel bad because i dont do much stuff through the year so i suppose i may be one of those people you are talking about.

but none of fletching bonfire listen to me anyway so i shall carry on Laughing

Sorry Stormy, I wasn't having a go. Don't think I quite explained myself right. Some of the likes of you that turn up on the night still have a vital part to play be it collecting or making sandwichs etc. Its the ones that turn up on the night, still don't do anything & take the praise that I can't stand.
The_Captain

I'll echo most thoughts on this one. Laughing
