Watch out Boyes and Belles!!!!Hi guys, all you boyes and belles that are involved with planning your events be on your guard. Hailsham are being hammered at the moment!! We signed off our event back in June but the Police are trying to make changes to our Risk assesments and Event management plan just three days before the Bonfire season starts on the pretense that they are trying to bring us into line with other bonfires!!!!
Quote from their last email:- "Sorry if it seems that I am being a little awkward but believe me this is not the case. The Police operational orders for our events have been reviewed and certain elements of them need to be changed to bring them into line with the working practices of others."
I'm not going to go into the full list but HBS members and visiting societies, Be assured we are fighting this all the way!

Has the new Police operational orders for the events been discussed or/and agreed by all parties concerned ?

Nope!!! Which is exactly why we're standing our ground!! This is a unilateral decision taken by the Police " to bring us into line with the working practices of others" Only if advised by the SBC in the interest of the wider Bonfire community will we change the operational plans for our event and I think we all agree, that is somewhat unlikely!!

So what is the working practices of others and who are the "Others"

All the "others" fall into the Hastings, Rother and Wealden divisions but I can't go into too much detail as the exchanges between us and the Police are ongoing and are at a delicate stage, as for the "agreement/working practices" This is an unknown quantity, I have sought counsel from someone in the know within the Bonfire community in the afore mentioned areas and they are not aware of any such agreements. Therefore on that basis we continue to stand our ground and await the next barrage of questions and recommendations.
