[quote="forrest"]I've used Sutlets Stores down in Bournemouth, who made my Kings German Legion Artillary costume.
Just checked out their web site hope you don't get that uniform ruined Forrest but it looks good. While i'm on the matter of gear getting ruined how many of you fire proof your uniforms and if so where do you get it from and how much does it cost. The stuff we use for our re-enacting gear would cost us £25 for 750ml if we paid for it _________________ Lest we forget
The costume I have been wearing lately suits my mood and outlook . . But at Lewes I might dress up till the last proccession _________________ Remember Remember The Fifth Of November . . V
i have a question. does anyone spray a fire proff spray stuff on their costume?.
you can tell i know more about that than i do about meat fagots.
its just some people said they use a fireproff spray on their costumes, wonder if anyone else has heard of it. _________________ stormy has left the site.
We dont bother coz spray only last 20mins or so . . Like to think we are all watching out for everybody _________________ Remember Remember The Fifth Of November . . V
Nope we don't bother. I was considering it this year for the baby's pram but it costs a fortune and doesn't last very long. It wouldn't stop me being very careful and keeping a close eye anyway. Just all watch each other and be there quickly if needed! I've not caught fire in all the years I've been doing it.
I have never sprayed any of my costumes over the years, any way getting the odd little burn just reminds people to be careful, thats why no one gets badly hurt. it's the bl**dy public you have to watch out for, well most are ok, it's the Chav's you have to keep and eye on. _________________ For Town & Tradition, Charity & Fun
Best to use natural materials as well as opposed to man made .. burns slower and doesnt melt ....... Best stuff we have found is upholstery fabric .. heavy but burn resistant _________________ Remember Remember The Fifth Of November . . V
I've waterproofed some bits of my costumes but never fire proofed them, wouldn't know where to get the stuff apart from the obvious expense, especially if you have a full length dress or cloak to be done! I've not gone up in smoke yet, again had a few burn holes in costumes but then who hasn't over the years? I agree with Lady treason its more the public especially those who pick up and swing around discarded torches that are more of a danger.
