Funny you should  say that Clunk as I was thinking the very same thing as i was walking around the town getting my bearings this morning. A torchlight procession through the old town would look very nice I feel.  Very Happy

Hows about we find a big field we can borrow, arrange a bloody great big beer tent, build a monster bonfire and let rip!!! (Bring your own fireworks and no public allowed!!!!)  Very Happy   Effigy built co-operatively with appropriate theme!   Laughing

Sounds good Rockape but I'm sure H+S would put a stop to it, speaking of which we have a window for Eastbourne to try and run again Cool

Ahh but you see it would be a private do!! no entry fee, no public, no health & safety busy bodies!! Would be great if Eastbourne BS could pull it off for the 10th (if only to see Nick in his new Pirate finery!!) but they're leaving it a bit late!!! If they don't get a bonfire up and running soon they'll never get one going, I imagine the Police and council will block any attempt to start a new bonfire anywhere!!! But there's no harm hoping!

Yes would be nice if Eastbourne could get off the ground this year seeing as there is now a free Saturday in the calender. All depends on the emergency services etc.

I think Eastbourne getting a night together on the 10th Oct would be the best idea, not sure how East Grinstead would feel about us taking over their town for the night. At the very last we need a party of some kind that night. Maybe Forrest and I should bring the wedding forward!  Laughing

Hi all,
at last I can stop lurking and give you some news.  Eastbourne has permission to run an event on Saturday 24th October. Details and invitations will follow later in the year.

Sadly we realise that we clash with others and apologise to those societies however Eastbourne will be looking at keeping this date in the future as it’s the same day as the Eastbourne marathon.  We have been working away in the background with the local council and the date was decided upon a long time ago but we were not very inclined to publish it after events (or not!) in recent years.  We would have been very unlikely to get permission to run on 10th as it’s the same day as the Eastbourne Beer Festival.

However we are all pretty happy as I'm sure you can appreciate!
Cheers! Very Happy

That's great news, well done to everyone concerned can't imagine that was a smooth ride!!! Would rather it was the same day as the beer fest!!!  PDT_Aliboronz_24 Hope it's not the same route as the half marathon!!!!  Confused

Thats great news for Eastbourne Bonfire and all involved with them. Here's hoping you have a great night and all goes well for you. Shame you werent able to fill the free weekend we have in the calender because of the resasons stated. But at least you're of the ground and running.

Usually it would be Nevill for me but Eastbourne needs the support so I'll be there, if this year is a success hopefully it'll be a regular.

Only seems to be a few of us about Mr Forrest!!!! Thought Eastbournes great bit of news might generate a flurry of activity but alas none was forthcoming!! All I can assume is that they're all bogged down by the health and safety minefield and too busy preparing for their respective nights or they're down the Seagulls shop trying to get their tickets for Saturday? (don't bother unless you're on your own, been trying to get a block of three - but to no joy!!) Come on the Seagulls!!!!
