right - me and the missus are going to foist the kids off on someone, get booked in to some accommodation, go to either newick or rye and get massively and irresponsibly drunk - question is, which one ?

i love newick - fantastic with the rookies being thrown at the clergy, the fireworks are great, the flaming barrels more so, rooms at the bull look brilliant and the curry house is top quality - but it's a marvelously atmospheric evening at rye, the mermaid is great to stay at, and there are plenty of decent eateries, so if you had the choice, which one would it be ?

Rye for me . . . Fireworks and Clergy are brilliant at Newick but Rye has the edge on atomsphere and has cleverly built bonfires

They don't clash, so be a devil and do both as a "fact finding" jolly this year so that you can decide which one to go to next year!!!!

oh aye - we'll go to both, but will only be able to dump the kids and stay the night for one

anyway, decision seems to have been made for us, as the mermaid have hiked their standard prices by nearly 100% for the day in question, and it'll cost £200.00 for a room there - pity, given that yer actual gabriel tomkins stayed there in the 1700's  Wink
