Look at the state of the NHS here in Sussex. What a mess due to very poor management! I'm going to whinge here as its effected me over the last few days on a personal note. Now I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me here.

Friday night my grandad was taken into the Princess Royal in Haywards Heath with a stroke. He had to spend the whole weekend before any stroke specalist could see him as they don't work weekends! What a joke!

Then last night my dad was rushed into hospital. Couldn't take him to the our local hospital in Haywards Heath as we don't have a A&E department anymore. Anyways arrives at the Royal Sussex at 3.45 this morning and is still there 11 1/2 hours later still waiting for a operation & a bed!

Now my point is its disgracful the way the health service is run in this county. They shut A&E departments left, right & centre and send everyone to Brighton. One problem Brighton can't cope with the amount of people coming through the door. There were 6 ambulance's lined up this morning with people in, waiting for a bed to become free so they could be seen. Therefore meaning 6 ambulances out of service in the county. Mark my words someone is going to die before long due to the mis-management of the NHS and the closing of A&E departments in the county.

Yet they keep bulding more & more homes, so the population becomes bigger, yet they don't have the vital NHS services to deal with them if they need them!

Rant over with.

i was speaking with someone at the princess royal the other week and he said that the plans for the hospital were actually drawn up in the early 70s and they were built to those same plans in about 1990 i think it was.
so...the newest hospital in sussex at that time was also the least modern structually wise Exclamation Exclamation this has had some effect (but by no means all) as to the pathetic state that the princess royal is in now...
he also backs up what forrest has already said...
that if someone broke their leg right outside the hospital..they would be taken to brighton Exclamation
BRING BACK CUCKFIELD.... i spent quite a bit of time there in the late 80s and i assume like some others on here was born there too.

If it wasn't so serious, the state of the NHS here in Sussex would be rather funny. Third world countries are better of! ok maybe not. More like a Carry On film.

Not only are they getting rid of A&E depts they are also closing maternity units left right and centre... at this rate more and more babies are going to be born on the side of the road.

Really sorry to hear your news Darren, hope your dad is ok & give him our love.

C, P & A xxx

How about this for a story then When one of the large supermarket chains heard that they were down grading the Princess Royal they asked that they could have first refusal on the site if they ever actually closed the whole hospital down Exclamation Shocked

yes so what gets me is the fact they want to build more houses but are shutting hospitals.
i wouldnt like to go the brighton, i dont like brighton and the parking is shite.
It makes me sick, it also makes me sicker when so many people are fighting for it, but they dont give a dam.
Our local doctor is fighting for it and there is a meeting about it in fletching this week, so see what else we can do about it.
They built uckfield and they say even that is going to be pointless as well.
i have written me letters, signed petitions and even demonstarted, what more can we do? keep on fighting the sods Evil or Very Mad
